In the last week, I''ve noticed a decreased tracking interval on the iPads & iPhones I manage. Although Tracking Power is still set to High, I''m seeing intervals in the order of 2 to 15 minutes, even with continuous movement. FWIW, this does appear to have occurred around the time I updated to iOS/iPadOS 16.4.

I have stopped/restarted FollowMee, restarted devices, and also changed tracking power to Medium and back to High, with no change to the behavior.

Anybody else experiencing this? Or got any suggestions for troubleshooting or fixing?

Reboot your devices to see if the tracking improves.

Rebooted iPhone. No improvement, looks the same. Any other ideas to try?

This is very strange. The app should not behave this way. Then try to remove the app and then install it again.

I removed and reinstalled app on both iPhone and iPad. Restarted both devices. No change in behavior: still laggy patchy location updating. What next?

Looking more closely at this, I can see that the app doesn''t appear to wake up often enough. I tried toggling Motion & Fitness access, that didn''t help. When I bring app to front, *then* it''ll update, but I can see that it''ll be upwards to half an hour since last update, and it hasn''t accessed location services. Other location-sensitive apps I have show they do, continuously (such as Google Maps). Looking for other suggestions, or I can provide more info for troubleshooting if that’s helpful.

Looks like iOS16.4 changed the location tracking behavior. We will investigate a solution.

Yes, it does feel like an OS thing. Let me know if I can help out or test anything for you.

Updated and tested with iOS/iPadOS 16.4.1. Behavior is the same.

It will be a few more days before we can submit the fix to Apple.

Update the app to v8.5 and it will fix the problem.
