Following the iOS 11 update, we updated the followmee app to version 5 based on the recommendation of the forum posts. However, we continue to get less than the performance we were used to. The interval updates seem to randomly stop, as well as the on demand updates. It just locks on a location and stays there. We''ve triple checked the phone settings and the app settings, and everything looks to be correct. We''ve accidentally found that if we call the phone AND SOMEONE ANSWERS, it corrects the stalled tracking. As it''s not always possible for my daughter to answer the phone, this is not a satisfactory work-around. Any suggestions?

Make sure "motion and fitness" are enabled via ios settings. Updates will only be sent to the map if there is a change in location. Note that "forced update" is depreciated.

This thread might help understand the new settings and map updates:

Most probably the administrator will chime in here and explain better than I have.

Yes, thanks for the response. Motion & Fitness are enabled, and I did read that thread before posting. She IS changing locations, but it isn''t picking them up despite several hours going by. Sometimes the forced update will work when that happens, and sometimes not. Calling her phone, seems to somehow cause the tracking to re-engage.

Any chance the person with the phone could disable things to prevent tracking? Things like stopping the app? Disabling the required services?
Maybe check the logs on the phone? Enabling permissions to prevent such things. Just some thoughts.

No, nothing is being altered nor disabled. This is somehow an issue between the iOS11 and the app

Set the tracking power to high on the app setting. If she is on the move, the app will track every 1-2 minutes. But if she is stationary, you won''t get a update.

I appreciate the response, but I am obviously not explaining the issue plainly. Regardless of the tracking frequency... whether under the settings or on demand... the app just stops showing me any tracking movement... When this happens, it doesn''t update the time or location UNTIL I call her phone. Once I call, and she answers, the update works immediately... It continues to work for hours to days, until the same thing happens again...
It had never done this prior to the iOS 11 update

First update the app to v5.2. If this problem still exists after the update, send the log file to us and we can take a look. To send the log file, open the app and click Menu button -> Email to Supports. Make sure to write something in the body of the email to reference to this email. Otherwise, your log file will be ignored.

I seem to have the same issue. I use the app to automatically track my tax free kilometers. It just stopped working on 1-Nov. I haven''t been able to get the location updated after that.

I have received your log file. Your problem was caused by corrupted data. Uninstall the app and then install it again. This should fix the problem.

My phone does the same thing the past many months. They said they updated the app so they allowed me reinstall the old version which worked for a while but now they have both stopped updating. Movement is constant thru out the day, between 10 and 100 meters but no update in location. If I''m driving, it just stops tracking mid-highway. How to fix?

App works great and it is to monitor a 5 year old. Motion and fitness are set on and location is set to Always but some how the location randomly flips to "while using the app" regardless of anyone doing anything. The kid does not even know how to get to the settings page, it blocked by Bark app. The critical error emails also do not work as I find out about the issue via the blank report and after fixing the issue...then I get the critical error email which is kind of pointless by then as I am being notified after the issue has already been corrected.

In iOS 13 and up, Apple has changed the phone behavior. It starts to prompt user for any background tracking app. This message will pop up every several days. Tell your users to choose the "Always Allow" option. Otherwise, location service is disabled and the app cannot track. This is the iOS behavior designed by Apple and there is no workaround.
